DotA (Defense of the Ancient All-Stars)
Tired of other online games which require you to manage your resources and base building?Well… Why not try out Defense of the Ancient All-Stars? (DotA for short) DotA is an online Role-Playing strategy team game which allows one to come up with his or her own strategies and tactics to win this game. Whereby the player controls only a hero and works with his or her team members to win this team-oriented game. Not to mention the different varieties of game modes which allow the host to choose from. Many game modes can be combined to allow an even more flexible and interesting game play.
Objective of Game:
Each team has a base in opposite corners of the map, which is defended by towers. In the heart of each base is the “Ancient”, a building which must be destroyed in order to win the game. Thus, teams fight against the enemy team as well as computer controlled units (creeps) and defensive structures (towers).
Heroes:
Each human player controls a single Hero, which is a powerful unit with unique abilities. In DotA All-stars, players choose one of eighty-nine heroes available between the two teams, each which have different spells, strengths, and tactical advantages over other heroes. In this unique and interesting game, players focus on strengthening their heroes rather than building their own bases.
Leveling Up:
Killing computer-controlled creeps and enemy towers earns the Hero’s experience, and when enough experience is accumulated the Hero gains a level. Leveling up improves the Hero’s toughness and the amount of damage it can deal, as well as allowing players to upgrade their spells or skills. In addition to earning experience, players also manage a single resource, gold.
Getting Gold:
The typical resource-gathering of other games is replaced by a combat-oriented money system; in addition to a small periodic gold income, heroes earn gold by killing creeps, base structures, and enemy heroes. Items:With their gold, players can purchase items to strengthen their hero and gain additional abilities. Certain items can be combined along with ‘recipes’ to create more powerful items. Buying items to suit one’s hero or suit the situation of the game is an important tactical element of the game.
