Xiang Yu , the Lord of Chu, was a man of  valor who aspired to bring an end to the cruel rule of the Qin Dynasty. At the landmark battle of JuLu, he ordered his men to raze their boats and destroy their cooking utensils, allowing each man only to bring 3 days of rations. Realising that their only hope of survival was to defeat the mammoth Qin army of 300,000 soldiers, the 20,000 Chu troops fought valiantly repulsing the enemy troops. After 3 days of fierce fighting and 9 skirmishes, the Qin soldiers withdrew in defeat and scurried to Hangu Pass where they eventually surrendered to Xiang Yu. Xiang Yu’s miraculous victory at JuLu despite being outnumbered left him a mark in China’s history.

Radioactive elements like Uranium and Radium emit radioactive rays when they decay. These rays known as gamma rays can permeate through human cells. Incisive exposure to gamma rays in a short period of time can eventuate in cancer and cause deformity, jeopardising people’s lives. The incontrovertible harmful effects of radiation poisoning can be corroborated with the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster and the dropping of two atomic bombs in Japan.

In an ostentatious display of histronics, my fractious brother started to assault me in a fit of a frenzy. Well, I still remembered what a timorous and kind lad he was before he entered primary school, he would always obey and respect his elders, fearful to do anything to upset them. I think that mixing with bullies, troublemakers and others of that ilk was an integral part of his change. He has now become the anathema in our family.

Although five weeks had elapsed, this is still the first journal I posted, due to the massive amount of homework teachers had inundated us since the start of the school term. I had tried my best to complete my homework on time by obviating my temptations and distractions like computer gaming and watching television progammes, but it seemed to be fruitless no matter how hard i try to resist them.  Sanguine that Mr Kek would not be so harsh on me for not completing the other four journals I would slowly take my time to finish them.
