The French Coup otherwise known as the French Revolution (1789–1799), was a time of political and social strife. It was also a barometer of the French government, previously an absolute monarchy which underwent modifications to become a Republic. During the reign of King Louis XVI, a myriad of problems aroused due to the huge amount of money he spent on the numerous wars which brought France on the verge of bankruptcy. There was also an inefficient and unequal pecuniary system which taxed heavily on the French peasants while the nobles did not have to pay. Famine and malnutrition were also rife and the French peasants suffered greatly under the noble classes’ profligate ways of the sumptuous spending on goods and services. The French peasants who craved for a change that could better improve their lives decided to overthrow the indecisive and inefficient king. King Louis XVI thought that their plan would be abortive, until the mobs gained the support of the French Guards…
